Prediction and odds for the game: Dortmund (14/5) vs Bayern Munich (5/6)
We are backing the draw at odds of 16/5
When: Saturday 4 December 2021, Kick-off 17:30
Where: Signal Iduna Park
On Saturday evening, Dortmund host Bayern Munich at Signal Iduna Park, in a potentially pivotal clash in the race for the Bundesliga title.
Dortmund
Marco Rose’s team head into this potentially massive clash with perennial rivals Bayern Munich on the back of a superb run of form in the Bundesliga. BVB have now claimed ten wins in their 13 matches in the German top-flight this season. A 3-1 victory over Wolfsburg in their last game in the Bundesliga also means that the home team has won in six of their last seven matches.
In typical Dortmund fashion in recent years, they have been highly prolific in the German top-flight of late, as they have now scored at least twice in all six of those seven recent league wins.
Dutch forward Donyell Malen has now scored in his last three appearances for BVB in all competitions, including in his last two matches in the Bundesliga. He had failed to score in his first 11 league games since his big-money move from PSV Eindhoven in the summer.
Dortmund have turned Signal Iduna Park into a fortress of late, winning their last 11 league matches on home soil. One of the biggest factors in that recent home form is their sheer attacking prowess, as BVB have scored at least two goals in 15 of their last 16 home matches in the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich
The reigning champions and league leaders will be heading into this clash with slight trepidation, as Julian Nagelsmann’s team have not been in their usual formidable form in the Bundesliga of late. Last time out they scraped past Arminia Bielefeld 1-0, with a 71st minute Leroy Sane strike eventually breaking the visitor’s resistance. The Bavarians are just a point ahead of Saturday’s opponents in the Bundesliga table.
Despite not being at their best of late, Bayern have still won five of their previous seven games in the German top-flight. They have also scored at least twice in nine of their last 12 games in the Bundesliga.
The recent 2-1 defeat at Augsburg in their last away match in the Bundesliga ended a winning run of four games on their travels in the German top-flight. Bayern had also scored at least three goals in each of their previous four away matches in the Bundesliga.
Conclusion
This is sure to be a cracking encounter. Bayern have won the last six meetings with Dortmund and seem to have a hoodoo over BVB. However, we believe that the hoodoo will end, but Dortmund will once against be frustrated with the game finishing in a draw. This game looks set to be a high-scoring encounter and we feel that backing Marco Reus to be an anytime goalscorer offers decent value.
Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 16/5 and/or Marco Reus anytime goalscorer at odds of 3/1. (All odds are taken from Bet 365).
